They are like little windows in a house: the squares. You can look in, you can look out. Unusual, four sides of the same length, the canvas in a small square, as here 50 x 50 cm. This harmonious unity is a symbol of strength, calm and stability. And that is precisely what challenges me to dissolve this balance. A strong application of color creates initial unrest in the sameness. And irritating color nuances turn the windows into eyes that look at you curiously. And the mounted paper and cardboard in the middle of the canvas-window-eyes tell you: dynamism was born out of calm, a new structure. Conjuring up exciting structures out of paper on small canvases in the style of Jean Fautrier inspires me.
