This light, this subtle shimmering, the eternal light crunching of the fine sand in my ear. The desert has always captivated and fascinated me. When the air takes your breath away in the salt desert of Chott el Djerid, when the colors of the sand mutate and change, when you see a caravan moving on the horizon and the palm trees of the longed-for oasis wave gently at you, then it is the mirage you have been waiting for so long. These reflections in the picture appear as delicate and gentle as the “painter of light”, William Turner, achieved in perfection. And the fine sand on the canvas tempts you to touch it and let it melt between your fingers. And the silver streaks lead you to your destination. Wherever it may be.
